Can you win at roulette?
This is by far the most popular question asked by both noobs and oldies "is there a winning roulette system?" , and in short the answer is NO, but I'll attempt to explain why in more detail below.
Many have tried and failed, even Albert Einstein is reputed to have stated, "You cannot beat a roulette table unless you steal money from it."
The house edge:
All casino games are rigged... Fact! And in the game of roulette the casino always has at least a 5% advantage over the player, this is a mathematical fact and so it can't be beaten with any mathematical system or strategy.
Roulette progression systems:
Most roulette systems use a progression factor, a simple example of this is the classic martingale system where you bet on either red or black and if you loose you just double your last stake and place the same bet again.
A progression factor will always ensure that, should you win on the next spin all your previous losses will be covered. The downside to this is that with each loosing bet your stake gets bigger and bigger, and the more spins you lose in a row, the faster your stake gets bigger. If you keep playing like this you could be risking $100 just to break even.
Flat betting systems:
Flat betting is just the opposite of progression, you use only one set stake cost throughout the whole game.
These kinds of systems are normally based on maths and the odds of certain numbers showing more than a given number of times in a row. An example of a flat betting roulette system is the "One number" system.
The roulette wheel has no memory:
People think that just because a red number has shown for the last 10 spins in a row that the next number must be black, simply because they think how unlikely it would be.
But the important thing to remember is that the wheel has no memory, the wheel doesn't know which number it just spun and the wheel doesn't know which number it will spin next. Each spin is independent of the last and no spin can change another.
RNG Roulette:
RNG ( random number generator ) roulette, is just the complicated name for online roulette where there is no real roulette wheel and a computer picks the winning number at "random".
As you know, there are a hell of a lot of skeptics in the world (you're probably one of them, if you play roulette), some people think that RNG roulette is just a big scam and the casino won't let you win unless they want to. They think that the game is rigged and you have absolutely no chance of beating it.
This is just not true, obviously I can't speak on behalf of all online casinos but in the vast majority of cases at reputable casinos, it would not be in there best interests to rig the game. Because if no-one ever won, then they wouldn't come back and play again, and if no-one ever won, then they wouldn't recommend their friends to play either.
Online casinos rely on the 5% house edge which was mentioned above, this is enough for them, but if you're still a skeptic then you should try the "live roulette" at your regular casino.
Roulette software:
In the age of computers, people and companies have developed software which can play roulette systems on auto-pilot at the online casino. You might think that, because the computer is playing against a computer, then you have a better chance of beating it. But the truth is that the odds are no better, because the software was still written by humans and the systems they play are not very complicated.
Many people prefer roulette software simply because it's faster.
Biased roulette wheels:
This can only occur in land-based casinos and not online, it's where the wheel is very slightly tilted or otherwise biased. The ball will land in one sector of the wheel more than others.
This is the only way to always win at roulette, but it would take you hours of sitting at the roulette table to track spins and monitor the wheels performance.
